Description

This high quality 5V DC Stepper Motor comes with an included motor driver board to allow you to easily control the motor from any microcontroller.

The stepper motor is a standard 4 phase design and is very easy to use.

The motor comes with an easy to use 5 pin connector attached to the end. This connector is keyed to ensure you do not connect it to the motor driver board backwards.

The motor driver board itself has a connector for the power supply, one for the microcontroller and one for the stepper motor. There is an LED for each output pin - this makes it easy to see which phases are currently active.

The stepper motor board's pinout is shown below:

  • 0V: Connect 0V or Ground to this pin.
  • Logic Power: These two pins are linked together. Connect your logic power supply (the same power supply as your microcontroller) to the left hand Logic Power pin (it is marked on the board with a small +).
  • Motor Power: If you are using the same power supply for your microcontroller to drive your motor, simply connect the supplied jumper to the right hand Logic Power pin and this pin. If you wish to use a separate power supply, connect that power supply to this pin.
  • Phase A: this pin controls Phase A on the stepper motor.
  • Phase B: this pin controls Phase B on the stepper motor.
  • Phase C: this pin controls Phase C on the stepper motor.
  • Phase D: this pin controls Phase D on the stepper motor.

This stepper motor is bi-directional - you can run it clockwise or anti-clockwise.

To run the motor clockwise, you should activate the phases in this order:

  • Phase D
  • Phase D and Phase C
  • Phase C
  • Phase C and Phase B
  • Phase B
  • Phase B and Phase A
  • Phase A
  • Phase A and Phase D
  • And repeat...

To run the motor anti-clockwise, you should activate the phases in this order:

  • Phase A
  • Phase A and Phase B
  • Phase B
  • Phase B and Phase C
  • Phase C
  • Phase C and Phase D
  • Phase D
  • Phase D and Phase A
  • And repeat...
